Amplify Arts promotes unity, innovation, and progress in the arts to build strong and vibrant communities. Our Grants Program is designed to give artists a platform to experiment, create new work, develop new audiences, and exhibit outside the confines of larger institutional systems. By recognizing and awarding financial support to exceptional artists in the region, we seek to amplify artists’ voices, advance their careers, and diversify Omaha’s cultural landscape, enhancing the city’s profile as a place where artists can live, work, and access meaningful support.
Micro Grants and Emergency Grants constitute Amplify Arts’ Essentials Fund. This fund was established specifically to increase access to professional tools and respond to unforeseen events that negatively impact an artist’s practice. The Essentials Fund totals $10,000 for the 2019 calendar year.
Micro Grants will average $250 and are one-time grants for capacity-building support items like:
- equipment or software
- professional development*
- marketing/promotional materials
Micro Grants are designed to fund the acquisition of new equipment or materials; support research, conferences and travel related to research; and help mitigate the cost of marketing and promotional materials directly related to an artist’s practice. Micro Grants do not cover requests for rent or fixed expenses like phone bills, utilities or housing; or situations resulting from general indebtedness or lack of employment.

Applicants should be aware that this is a grant program, and that each application is considered on its merits within the criteria of the program. While we aim to assist to as many applicants as we can, submitting an application is not a guarantee of funding.
Any artist, collaborative duo, or artist collective who has maintained a residence within the Omaha Metro Area including Washington, Douglas, Cass, Sarpy, and Saunders counties in Nebraska, and Pottawattamie, Mills, and Harrison counties in Iowa for at least one year is eligible to apply. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older. Artists who have received past support from Amplify in the form of a Micro Grant, Artist Support Grant, or Public Impact Grant must wait one year after their grant term has ended to reapply. This does not Emergency, or Generator Grant recipients or Artists who have participated in Artist INC, Working Artist Wednesdays, Work in Progress or other Amplify programs.
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, and reviewed by a panel of jurors quarterly (i.e. end of March, June, September, and December). If you meet the eligibility criteria (outlined above) you may apply at any time throughout the year, there are no deadlines or application periods. Plan ahead and be aware of the review schedule stated above. The next review will take place after September 30, 2019 (from October 1-5, 2019) and applicants will be notified soon after.
We assure you that the use of personal information provided in this application will be limited to the internal purposes of Amplify Arts. Information provided will only be shared with senior leadership and the board of directors for the sole purpose of determining eligibility and need.
If your application is funded, Micro Grant recipients will be required to fill out a short evaluation form and account for how funds are spent. This may be in the form of a bill, invoice, pictures, or other tangible reporting.
There is $10,000 available annually in the Essentials Fund. Please only request what is necessary. Micro Grants will average $250.
Incomplete applications or applications that fail to follow instructions (e.g. work sample labeling) will not be considered.
